CATARACT AWARENESS MONTH
FREE SEMINAR TUESDAY, MARCH 31
Are you over age 40? Have you noticed blurred vision, double vision in one eye or fading or yellowing of colors? How about sensitivity to glare and/or bright light? Do you have trouble driving at night?
If so, you may have cataracts, the leading cause of blindness worldwide. However, they are one of the most curable causes of vision loss.
To help you find out, Coast Plaza Doctors Hospital is sponsoring a free seminar at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Conference Center at 11004 Adoree Street, Norwalk, CA 90650.
Arun Jain, MD, a Coast Plaza Doctors Hospital ophthalmologist, will be presenting the seminar. He says, “The goal of the seminar is to debunk myths about cataracts and remind people they don't have to live with vision loss from cataracts.”
A cataract is the clouding of the eye's normally clear lens, blocking the passage of light needed for vision. They form slowly and cause no pain. Some stay small and hardly affect vision, but if the cataract does grow and begin to affect your vision, it can usually be removed with surgery.
"New techniques developed over the past decade have made cataract surgery one of the safest and most successful procedures available in terms of restoring quality of life to patients," says Dr. Jain.
If you have questions or concerns about cataract surgery, contact Elden Pablo, RN, CNOR, OR/SDS/PACU Manager at (562) 868-3751, extension 2115.
If your eyesight is important to you, come to this seminar and get the facts. We’re your neighborhood hospital and we want to see you healthy!
