Eye Evaluations
Your eyes are too important to trust to just anyone. At Coast Plaza Doctors Hospital, we know our patients as well as our technology. Our Eye Care Center is staffed by friendly, board certified ophthalmologists trained in the most advanced surgical and non-surgical procedures to protect your eyes from disease or injury. Coast Plaza Eye Care Program offers a full range of eye examinations for adults and children:
- • Visual Acuity Tests determine the smallest letters a patient can read on an eye chart.
• Refractive Error Tests calculate blurriness caused by nearsightedness or farsightedness, astigmatism or presbyopia.
• Color Vision Tests detect color blindness.
• Eye Muscle Tests check for weakness or poor muscle control.
• Slit-lamp Examinations allow doctors to evaluate the health of the cornea, iris, lens and front chamber of the eye.
• Retinal Examinations investigate the back of the eye, including the retina, macula, optic disk and blood vessels that supply the retina.
• Glaucoma Testing measures pressure inside the eye, corneal thickness and field of vision.
Following these eye examinations our ophthalmologists will consult with you on the overall health of your eyes and answer any questions you may have. If necessary, they will prescribe and fit glasses or contact lenses, or address any disease related issues and the proper course of treatment.
Eye Diseases
The complexities of the eye make it prone to a host of diseases and conditions. Coast Plaza Eye Care Team is trained to care for all aspects of eye disease including:

Eye Surgeries
In addition to evaluations and medical procedures, Coast Plaza Eye Team also provides a number of advanced surgical options to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of:
- • Cataracts – Our doctors are certified to perform state of the art “No-Stitch” Cataract surgery with various foldable implants, including:
o ReSTOR IOL: These implants improve vision at all distances in cataract patients with presbyopia (trouble with close-up vision).
o Toric IOL: These implants are designed for cataract patients who have trouble seeing fine detail at all distances due to astigmatism.
- • Eyelid Rejuvenation - Dermatochalasis, the condition of having loose skin and “bags” under the eyes, presents clear signs of aging that many men and women want to reduce.
- • Ptosis - Aside from being unattractive, droopy upper eyelids may result in loss of upper field of vision and can cause headaches.
- • Ectropion - A sagging lower eyelid leaves the eye exposed and dry, which can lead to excessive tearing.
- • Entropion - A lower eyelid that turns inward often causes eyelashes to rub against the eye, causing irritation and discomfort.
- • Eyelid lesions - Tumors, growths and cysts can all attack the eyelid, harming eye health and sometimes threatening the life of the patient.
Laser Procedures
Recent advancements in laser eye surgery are changing the way eyes are treated. Coast Plaza Eye Care Center offers a range of non-invasive laser surgery services to address the varying needs of our patients:
• YAG Laser for secondary cataract treatment.
• YAG and Argon Laser for glaucoma management.
• Argon Laser treatment for diabetes-related eye conditions.
The health of your eyes is a necessity. Most insurers, including Medicare, cover examinations, treatments and surgical procedures.
